Tonight's NHL slate is packed with 10 games. There are some great games scheduled for tonight and some will be tight battles, but there is one game specifically that will not be that. Tonight the completely retooled New Jersey Devils are going to be taking on the abysmal Philadelphia Flyers. The Devils got better this offseason and have their best player, Jack Hughes back and healthy coming off of his best season of his career. The Flyers are not good, and actually got worse this offseason. The best move they made was hiring coach John Tortorella, and there was a report of him saying there are no redeeming qualities or anything good about this Flyers team.
This game starts at 7 p.m. ET and is going to be a statement game for the Devils. They haven't been taken seriously at all these past few seasons and pounding the Flyers in the first game of the year will be a step towards putting the league on notice. The Flyers are plagued by injuries to start off the year and the Devils will capitalize on that tonight.
